Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Order FormCastello di Grotti and its olive groves in Tuscany are preciously intertwined with Siena's medieval landscape. The Grotti hillsides, in the Ville di Corsano's surroundings, separate the Arbia Valley from the Merse Valley at an altitude of approximately 400 meters above sea level.
Here we grow about 3000 olive plants: their varieties are:
Frantoiano, Leccino, Moraiolo and some Pendolino.
The olives' harvesting starts in late October: this means we only pick by hand olives from the plant and not from the ground. After being harvested, olives are immediately taken to the
oil-press and cold squeezed. We thus obtain a green-coloured oil with
a marked "fruited" flavour and distinct herbaceous nuances.
The well-balanced taste mixes the bitter and the piquant with fresh and
intense perfumes. The
Castello di Grotti extra virgin olive oil I.G.P Toscano, is produced only
from hand-harvested olives in Tuscany. Our 2009 Castello Di Grotti Extra Virgin Olive Oil IGP has been tested by the Laboratory entrusted by the Tuscany Oil Consortium (Consorzio dell'Olio Toscano IGP *), which has certified our compliance with the Consortium's rules and such that are synthesized in the attached table.
The Castello di Grotti Extra Virgin Olive Oil does not undergo any filtering process and is bottled on the estate's premises in dark green glass bottles of 0,25; 0,50 and 0,75 liters (24,75 or 16,9 or 8,45 FL.OZ.) each. We also sell our olive oil in 3 or 5 liters Bag-in-Boxes with a special Stop-air-system which prevents oil oxidation.
